Are the ATV´s really a tool that can be used professionally in the forest, or are they only toys? I have heard both. My own experience is that the ATV is great to use to get into the forest with your chainsaws or clearing saw. You can really get all the way to where you are supposed to work, without walking one step too much. I have, however, never used the ATV as a forwarder bringing out timber from the forest.
Some people say it’s worthless as there is no low gear on the ATV´s, meaning that you have to use speed to get passed brush, stones and stumps. Others say it’s a perfect machine if you have wheel drive on the trailer.
I would be very interested in hearing/reading opinions on this here at the forum. - February 15, 2020 at 8:39 am #6886
Unstable and easy to turn over, not very good for towing any weight on a trailer unless it is dry and flat.

Thanks for sharing experience Muz. Apart from writing for Forestry.com I work in the forest. For the moment I am in a first (commercial) spruce thinning where the forest owner forwards the pulpwood himself with his ATV. He used to have a “Oxen” and he regrets the switch. He is already looking for something else, like Bison, Kinetic, Alstor or similar.

I’m bias, but the log bullet is a very good machine.
