We published an article here at forestry.com about how Swedish forest authorities decided to publish all felling applications online. Open for everyone to read. You can find it here
It would be very interesting to know more about the situation in different countries when it comes to the Forest acts and the legislation. Do you need to apply or get a permission to harvest your own forest in your country?

I don’t need a permit to harvest my own timber in the USA. I own 90 acres of land and it is where I get all of my firewood. I ty to be smart about it by removing unhealthy looking trees first. Commercial loggers are subject to conservation law to some extent with regard to wetlands.

In the UK if you are felling over 5 m3, you need a felling licence regardless of private or public ownership.
