For the first time in my life I have tested a battery chainsaw. “Mixed emotions” could be a good conclusion of that test. I was positively surprised by the power and speed in the saw. The power-weight ratio was excellent. It was very silent, but noisier than I expected. I never realized that the chain make so much noice!
The downside, if you ask me, is the handling with batteries. They are heavy to carry to the forest in the morning, and just as heavy when you go home in the afternoon. I know it differs between brands and types of batteries, but on the saw we tested, an Echo DCS 1600, the battery lasted 35 minutes. That is too short. Just imagine the pile of batteries you have to carry if you want to work a full day!
What do you think? Is it the future or will gas keep on ruling in the forest?
