Overview
The MS 661 C-M is the go-to chainsaw for professionals who need to fell large trees in large quantities. Its high power-to-weight ratio and STIHL M-Tronic™ engine management technology make it a powerful and efficient tool for the job. This chainsaw also delivers less vibration and 20% greater fuel efficiency than the MS 660. It features a long-life filter system that uses HD-2 filter elements to extend the time between maintenance, an ElastoStart™ handle, and a high-output adjustable oiler. Love everything about my particular saw
I bought the MS 661c in 2018. It is a monster. I don't have any of the problems with getting it to run. I did have a ms261 that had the same problems. It's the electric carb according to my friend that is a Certified Stihl/small engine mechanic. In his opinion the carb wasn't yet dialed in and Stihl was basically using customers money in a Guinea pig manner till they got it right. With the warranty it's not cool but somewhat understandable as more technology is used for everything in life. I sold my 261 and got a 250. I love how the new carbs work now that they are mostly dialed in as I change elevation daily depending on the job. Never have a problem with the 661c. I still give it a 5 star rating because it's not possible to find a saw that is on a equal standing. Yeah maybe problematic for users in the past as new tech was deployed. That data probably has led to improvements on every saw they make . I'm still gonna keep buying Stihl products.

Unbelievably powerful chainsaw
I purchased my ms661c near a month ago. Boy oh boy I’ve been nothing but surprised in the performance. I specifically purchased to do some log milling with an Alaskan saw mill. The saw has been flawless. A bit thirsty, but expect that with 90+cc’s. I have used a 25”, 28” and 36” bar while milling. The performance of the saw hasn’t changed with different bars only my soreness the next day! The 661c is right at home with my 461 and 391. Not one complaint on their performance.

Bought this saw about 5 months ago and use it with a 36-42” bar and it easily cuts and mills hardwood slabs. I use this saw for felling and bucking logs in excess of 60” and it handles large trees with ease. It always starts easily on the third or so pull after applying choke as designed. The oiler is capable of running enough supply for bars up to 50” which if going bigger in bar size I would recommend a 881 anyway.

Awesome powerful saw.
I bought this to handle larger tree jobs, and I am not disappointed. This saw chews through whatever tree is in front of it with very little effort. I obtained a 36 inch bar for it and it still works amazing. Very glad I invested in this model.

Very Powerful
I upgraded from the MS271 FARMBOSS, so I can use an Alaskan saw mill. When we had a tree come down in a snow storm, I got out my new MS661 C-M. The increase power was amazing. I cut through the tree so much faster.
