When the Ematic™ guide bar is used with STIHL OILOMATIC® saw chain, it provides proper lubrication and reduces oil consumption compared to conventional methods. The system uses two strategically placed ramps in the guide bar rail to direct all lubrication to the sliding faces of the bar and chain links, as well as the rivets and driver holes, which can reduce bar oil consumption by up to 50%.

To reduce the risk of injury in certain kickback situations, STIHL chainsaws are equipped with a STIHL Quickstop® chain stopping system.
